The transportation improvements proposed for the Eastern Corridor will provide direct support for Governor Taft's policy agenda for revitalization of Ohio's urban areas.
Transportation improvements will provide important new regional access to urban and "brownfield" areas inside the I-275 outerbelt, will encourage redevelopment efforts and reinvestment in local communities, will bring new jobs closer to more people, and will help preserve greenspace and farmland.
With a mix of transit and highway, the improvements will support workforce development by linking people to jobs with more transportation choices and better efficiency, and will increase opportunities for new housing development within Greater Cincinnati's urbanized area. This will help reinvent communities, provide more housing choices for people of all situations, make better use of land and reduce overall public infrastructure investment.

Study mission
Described here is the mission statement for the Eastern Corridor project PE/EIS phase work. The mission carries forward with basic goals and tenets established in the preceding MIS phase.
Study Mission
As details are developed for transportation improvements in the Eastern Corridor, they will be configured so that they are consistent with state and regional plans such as OKI's long range transportation plans and policies, SORTA/Metro's region-wide bus and rail transit planning effort, and ODOT's statewide plan and priority concern for roadway capacity and safety improvements in the SR 32 corridor.
The Eastern Corridor improvements will also be coordinated with local jurisdiction thoroughfare and transportation plans, including those of Hamilton and Clermont counties, the City of Cincinnati, and other local jurisdictions.
