Advanced Transit Association — The Advanced Transit Association (ATRA) was established in 1976 to focus attention on unmet urban transportation needs and the ways in which advanced transit concepts can help satisfy them.

American Assoc. of State Highway and Transportation Officials — AASHTO is a nonprofit, nonpartisan association representing highway and transportation departments in the 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. It represents all five transportation modes: air, highways, public transportation, rail and water.

American Public Transportation Association — APTA serves and leads its diverse membership through advocacy, innovation and information sharing to strengthen and expand public transportation.

Association of Metropolitan Planning Organizations — AMPO is a nonprofit, membership organization established in 1994 to serve the needs and interests of "metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs)" nationwide.

Community Transportation Association — CTAA is a national, professional membership association of organizations and individuals committed to removing barriers to isolation and to improving mobility for all people. CTAA conducts research, provides technical assistance, offers educational programs and serves as an advocate in order to make coordinated community transportation available, affordable and accessible.

Department of Transportation — Its mission is to serve the United States by ensuring a fast, safe, efficient, accessible and convenient transportation system that meets our vital national interests and enhances the quality of life of the American people, today and into the future.

Federal Highway Administration — The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) coordinates highway transportation programs in cooperation with states and other partners to enhance the country's safety, economic vitality, quality of life and environment.

Institute of Transportation Engineers — ITE members are traffic engineers, transportation planners and other professionals who are responsible for meeting society's needs for safe and efficient surface transportation through planning, designing, implementing, operating and maintaining surface transportation systems worldwide.

National Transit Institute — The National Transit Institute's mission is to provide training, education and clearinghouse services in support of public transportation and quality of life in the United States. NTI was established in 1992 at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey under the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991 (ISTEA).

Northwestern University Transportation Library — The Transportation Library of Northwestern University is one of the largest transportation information centers in the world, encompassing information on all transportation modalities, including air, rail, highway, pipeline, water, urban transport and logistics.

Partners for Advanced Transit and Highways — As the California Advanced Technology Systems Program notes, PATH's mission is "to develop the foundations for the widespread adoption of advanced technologies that will help improve the operation of California's surface transportation systems." In order to develop these foundations, the PATH Program seeks to identify the impediments to progress, both technical and institutional, and develop strategies for overcoming those impediments.
