6,000 Eastern Corridor Property Owners to Receive Notice of Field Studies

Cincinnati, OH (08/16/2002) – Approximately 6,000 property owners in the Eastern Corridor project area will soon be receiving notification of possible field studies on their property. The letters are being distributed by the Hamilton County Transportation Improvement District (TID) and the Clermont County Engineer’s Office.

The field studies will be conducted over the next six months to identify environmental conditions in the study area. “This field work is an important part of the study process,” said Ted Hubbard, Chief Deputy Engineer, Hamilton County and the Eastern Corridor project manager. “The information obtained through the field studies will be incorporated into the transportation planning process to ensure the most appropriate transportation alternatives are pursued.”

Data collection will focus on natural areas, communities and developed areas, historic buildings, wetlands and streams. The field studies will primarily consist of visual inspection and the photographing of building exteriors and ecological features.

"The field personnel may place temporary flags in some locations to assist in mapping of information," said Pat Manger, Chief Deputy Engineer, Clermont County. "However, they have received strict instructions concerning avoiding damage to private property and public lands."

The list of property owners was identified through the Clermont County and Hamilton County Auditors offices based on January 2002 records. Property owners who purchased property in the Eastern Corridor detailed study area after January 2002 may not receive a letter and should contact the Eastern Corridor project office for more information.
