Background: |
|
The Eastern Corridor Land Use Vision Plan, covering 70 square miles, was developed
with considerable public input over the past 18 months to establish a shared vision for 15
political jurisdictions within Hamilton and Clermont Counties. A Vision Group comprised
of representatives from each community plus other stakeholders guided the process.
Public participation was invited in the six geographic-based Focus Area Groups to give
input to the Vision Group. The plan was unanimously endorsed by the Vision Group on
April 4, 2002.
One focus of the study was to build upon the recommendations of the Eastern Corridor
MIS (Major Investment Study) and provide land use recommendations for consideration in
developing the Part A: PE/EIS (Public Engineering/Environmental Impact Statement)
work. It is also intended as a guide for the updating of other local and regional land use
plans. |

Big Ideas: |
|
To encourage and guide healthy and appropriate change, infill and new development and
preservation within the Eastern Corridor, stretching from the Cincinnati Business District /
Riverfront area to the urban/suburban fringe.
Top Recommendations: Among the major recommendations in the Plan are to preserve land in river plains for
agriculture or open space and also to create connectivity improvements for people and
goods. |

Next Steps: |
|
The Regional Planning Commission will forward the Plan to the Hamilton County Board of
County Commissioners for their consideration of support for the general concepts and
recommendations contained in the Eastern Corridor Land Use Vision Plan. |
