Cincinnati, OH (11/27/2002) Hamilton County Commissioners John Dowlin, Tom Neyer Jr. and Todd Portune unanimously approved a
Resolution supporting the general concepts and recommendations contained in the Eastern Corridor Land
Use Vision Plan at a special public hearing held at the Anderson Township Senior Center on November 20th.
The Eastern Corridor Land Use Vision Plan (ECLUVP) includes important goals related to working together as a region within the City of Cincinnati, City of the Village of Indian Hill, City of Madeira, City of Milford, City of Norwood, City of Silverton, Village of Fairfax, Village of Mariemont, Village of Newtown, Village of
Terrace Park, Anderson Township and Columbia Township in Hamilton County, and Batavia, Miami, and
Union Townships in Clermont County.
The approval by the Board of County Commissioners marks the latest step in a 16 month process of developing the ECLUVP with substantial community participation through meetings of a Vision Group, Focus Area Groups, open houses, and public hearings. The ECLUVP will be used by the Commissioners to guide their decisions regarding capital improvements such as, but not limited to, transportation and utility improvements. The ECLUVP was forwarded to the Commissioners by the Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission following their adoption of the plan on August 1, 2002. Several communities within the 70 square mile study area have adopted the plan locally.
The ultimate goal of the Eastern Corridor Land Use Vision Plan is to encourage and guide healthy and appropriate change, infill and new development and preservation within the Eastern Corridor. The land uses, critical areas constraints, and growth projections contained in the plan will be used for assessing transportation improvements recommended in the Eastern Corridor MIS (Major Investment Study) as the process moves into the PE/EIS (preliminary engineering/environmental impact study) phase of the project.
