Cincinnati, OH (02/13/2001) The Eastern Corridor project, a study evaluating transportation alternatives in Eastern Hamilton and Clermont counties, is now moving into the next phase of work beginning with land use visioning. This work will be conducted under the administration of the Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission.
Land use visioning identifies land use goals and objectives for the area. These identified goals and objectives for the Eastern Corridor study area include:
- Identifying a better fit and effectiveness of transportation solutions
- Maximizing the benefits of transportation solutions
- Minimizing the impact of transportation alternatives
- Ensuring community values are met
This latest land use visioning work will incorporate economic development, preservation of green space and quality of life issues identified in existing community plans as well as developing new information.
"We want to do a comprehensive review of the land use goals of the affected communities in the study area and integrate that information into the transportation planning," said Hamilton County Commissioner John Dowlin, chair of the study.
Much of the land use visioning work will concentrate on six focus areas. These focus areas include Ohio State Route 32, Eastern Avenue/Lunken, Wooster, Red Bank, Wasson and River Plains.
For more information on the land use visioning work, or to provide feedback, interested parties can attend the first Eastern Corridor land use visioning open house on Wednesday, February 28, 2001, 5-7pm at the Anderson Place Elementary School, 5051 Madison Place, Madisonville. Presentations will be every half hour. Information is also available on the web site at www.easterncorridor.org.
