PROJECT STATUS
The SR 32 Relocation project is in the preliminary engineering phase of ODOT’s new Project Development Process (PDP), Path 5. During this phase, the project team will:
• Conduct a Feasibility Study
• Complete NEPA environmental studies
• Prepare an Alternative Evaluation Report
• Update project cost estimates
• Begin Stage 1 design
Since receiving notification to begin Tier 2 work in late 2011, the SR 32 Relocation project team has been examining in detail the conceptual project alternatives presented in the Tier 1 FEIS and is working to narrow down the number of corridors for further study. The results of these efforts will be documented in a Feasibility Study report, which is anticipated to be completed and available for public review in Summer 2012.
Remote (non-invasive) sensing of archaeological resources within the study area is currently underway and is expected to be completed soon. The team has also completed geomorphological studies of the Little Miami River channel.
Moving forward, the project team will continue with the Tier 2 environmental studies in the refined corridors and will use information gained to identify feasible project alternatives. The environmental work will consist of a series of field studies which may include building inventories, visual/walkover property inspections, topographical surveys, soil testing and stream and wetland delineations. Results of the field studies will be used to develop a comparative matrix of impacts for the feasible alternatives, including a No Build alternative, from which a preferred alternative will be identified.
All work will be coordinated with the Oasis Rail Transit project and other Eastern Corridor Program efforts.
Public Involvement
Throughout the Tier 2 study, the SR 32 Relocation project team will meet with local community representatives and stakeholders to discuss project status, gain input and gather additional information to be considered as part of the project evaluation and alternative refinement process.
